With her personal highlights so this year, such as being hand-picked by Snoop Dogg to join him in the stage at the YouTube Brandcast in May 2013 Niykee has kept up her songwriting regimen despite the whirlwind of the past few years. After that I can get an idea of a whole song inside my head and start writing. I get the words whenever I'm outside on the porch, playing my guitar. It usually takes less than 30 minutes. As she continues develop as a musician, Niykee says that the pain of her experiences in the past is a constant source of inspiration. Niykee says that, even when she's not composing about events that are actually happening, all of her pain from childhood and loss of her sister find it's way into her music. The music I write is inspired by my experiences and I am able to feel the deeper meaning underneath every single thing. That's one of the things that is most significant to me.
